At Heolddu, we recognise that skills and knowledge are inseparably intertwined and mutually interdependent. By developing both, we ensure our pupils are well-equipped to succeed personally, academically, and beyond. Our pupils are given opportunities to:

• develop listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills
• use numbers confidently and solve problems in real-life situations
• become confident users of a range of technologies to help them function and communicate effectively, and make sense of the world.

Our Cross-Curricular Skills Framework shows how we nurture these abilities from Year 7 through Year 11 in line with the Curriculum for Wales.

This whole-school approach ensures that every lesson supports the development of essential lifelong skills to realise the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales. Pupils leave our school as confident communicators, problem-solvers, and responsible digital citizens, ready for further study, work, and life.

To support schools and practitioners in providing opportunities to develop, extend, and apply these skills, the Literacy and Numeracy Framework (LNF) and the Digital Competence Framework (DCF) have been updated and remain available as non-statutory supporting guidance.
